Pendaki Malaysia yang ditemui selamat selepas terkandas di Nepal, berhampiran puncak Gunung Annapurna bulan lalu, dilaporkan meninggal dunia ketika menerima rawatan di Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Singapura (NUH) semalam.

Dr Chin merupakan seorang pakar bius di Hospital Besar Ng Teng Fong di Singapura. Pada 23 April lalu dia dilaporkan hilang ketika menuruni Gunung Annapurna. Dr Chin terkandas berhampiran Gunung Annapurna selepas terpisah dengan kumpulan 30 pendaki lain ketika menuruni gunung itu Selasa lalu. Mangsa berjaya mendaki gunung setinggi 8,100 meter itu namun gagal kembali ke kem berhampiran yang terletak kira-kira satu kilometer dari puncak. Bagaimanapun, sebuah helikopter penyelamat mengesan Dr Chin melambai dari cerun salji sebelum diselamatkan. Selepas ditemui selamat, dia pada mulanya dirawat di sebuah hospital di Kathmandu, sebelum dibawa ke NUH.

Menurut laporan sebelum ini melaporkan doktor yang memberi rawatan awal kepadanya berkata, selain degupan jantung dan suhu badan amat rendah, Dr Chin juga mengalami hipotermia teruk dan mempunyai kesan gigitan fros di bahagian tangan dan kaki.

Posting terakhir di Facebook Dr Chin ialah pada 21 April, menceritakan mengenai pendakiannya yang kemudiannya berakhir dengan terkandas selama lebih 43 jam sebelum diselamatkan.

Annapurna |6 April 2019 – Puja ceremony, the weather forecast is not too favourable. Hope the weather will improve.

7 April 2019 – Reaching camp 1 after 4.5 hours. It was a technical climb.Staying at camp 1 overnight. Hopefully can make rotation to camp 2 tomorrow, camp 3 the next day and return to Base Camp on April 10. Currently the weather is bad with heavy snow.
